Bubba’s Bowl food consists of three categories of ingredients:
Protein (like turkey or pork)
Vegetables and fruit
Nutrients
Virtually every type of food that can be eaten by animals or humans degrades when it’s cooked. There is a fine line with proteins - they need to be cooked to some extent to reduce naturally-occurring bacteria. So we cook Bubba’s Bowl proteins gently to preserve the natural nutrients, moisture, and flavor and to meet food safety requirements.
We serve most of the vegetables and fruits in our food raw. This ensures that each vegetable and fruit can deliver its full nutrient value. There are a few exceptions - for example, we cook sweet potatoes until they’re roughly the consistency of a ripe mango. Sweet potatoes pack a lot of nutrients, but are very difficult for a dog to digest raw. Same thing with asparagus, which is very fibrous. We flash-cook asparagus to soften the fiber while maintaining its vitamin and mineral content.
We also add a customized batch of vitamins and minerals to ensure that our food is fully balanced. Each of these is carefully tailored to deliver exactly what your dog needs for their growth and activity level. We don’t add preservatives of any kind to our food. Each nutrient we use is explained in our Supplement Explainer.
All Bubba’s Bowl meals meet or exceed the standards set by the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), to which all reputable pet food companies adhere.
