What’s in Bubba’s Bowl meals?

All of our meals are made with 100% natural, fresh, human-grade ingredients. We don’t use preservatives and don’t freeze any of our ingredients or our finished meals.

How is your food made?

We make Bubba’s Bowl meals by hand in small batches. Proteins are gently cooked in the oven. Carrots, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and blueberries are served raw. Broccoli is steamed. Sweet potato is poached. Rice is prepared in a pressure cooker. Eggs are pan-scrambled. We then add all-natural vitamins, minerals, vegetable oil and fish oils to ensure a fully-balanced meal for your pups (see details in our Supplement Explainer).

Why do you add vitamins and minerals?

Both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) set standards for balanced diets for dogs. We add supplemental vitamins, minerals and oils to ensure that our all-natural recipes meet or exceed these standards.

Do you provide raw dog food?

We don’t. The FDA, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and other animal health organizations warn against raw diets because of the risk of Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria and Clostridium, particularly for puppies, seniors and immune-compromised dogs.

Do I need to add anything to Bubba’s Bowl meals?

You don’t need to add anything – our recipes provide a fully-balanced diet for your dog. But dogs like different textures and flavors just like people. Small amounts of healthy ingredients like yogurt, cucumbers or cranberries will keep your dogs coming back for more.

Can I freeze Bubba’s Bowl meals?

You can. We prepare our food fresh, using fresh (never frozen) ingredients, but freezing our meals is just fine. Be sure to freeze them no later than the date shown on the product label. When defrosting, move the package from the freezer to the refrigerator, where it will defrost in about 24 hours.

If you freeze our meals and urgently need to defrost and use the same day, place the entire unopened package in a bowl of cold water. Check it every hour and if needed, replace the water with more cold water – it should defrost within 2-3 hours. To avoid food-borne illness, do not leave Bubba’s Bowl meals at room temperature. See label for further freezing instructions.

Are you licensed and regulated?

We are. Bubba's Bowl is licensed by the Nevada Department of Agriculture as a Commercial Feed Producer under license #CF599. We are also licensed by Clark County, Nevada. All of our dog food products meet or exceed standards set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) for pet food products.

Who is Bubba?

Many years ago, Sharon and Dan had a brother-sister pair of black labrador shelter dogs. Inigo Montoya and Princess Buttercup were big, lovable monsters, but Inigo was clearly hiding behind the door when the doggie brains were handed out. Since “doofus” seemed unkind, Sharon began referring to Inigo as Bubba, and the name stuck.
