How to Store Fresh Dog Food in Las Vegas Heat

One of the best things about Bubba’s Bowl dog food is that it’s always delivered fresh to your door within 24 hours of cooking. Our drivers are trained to ensure that our food remains fresh on the way from our kitchen to your dog’s bowl - we bring our food to you in sealed, refrigerated packages and store it in coolers at about 45° while it’s in transit to you.

The reality of living in Las Vegas is that we have 4-6 months out of the year when it’s really hot. If you feed your dogs indoors, this isn’t much of an issue. But if you feed your dogs outside, there are a few precautions you should follow.

  1. Always feed your dog in the shade.

  2. If your pup hasn’t finished a meal within 15 minutes in daytime heat, refrigerate it for the next time. If more than 15 minutes has passed, discard whatever is left.

  3. Don’t leave Bubba’s Bowl food in your parked car. This is the case whether you use our resealable boxes or our vacuum pouches - it takes less than 30 minutes for unrefrigerated food to host bacterial growth that is harmful to dogs.

Even if your dog eats indoors, there are a few things to consider with fresh food. When you feed Bubba’s Bowl to your pups, it goes straight from the fridge to their bowl. Most dogs eat their meals within 5-15 minutes of serving (if your dogs are like ours, it’s more like 0-5 minutes). If your dog is a slow eater, we suggest you pick up the bowl within 30 minutes and put it back in the refrigerator. If it’s been longer than an hour, discard whatever is left (a good lesson for your slow eater).
