Albie’s Story: From Kilo to King of the Pyr Pack

When Albie first arrived at SNARLLV (Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League), he was known as Kilo - a gentle giant with a heart as big as his fluffy Great Pyrenees frame. At 100% Pyr, he had the classic traits of the breed: calm, soulful eyes, a protective nature, and a coat you could practically get lost in. What he didn’t have yet was the family he was meant for.

That changed the day he was adopted.

From the moment he stepped into his new home, Albie formed an instant bond with Lana. The two became inseparable - true best friends who do everything together, from backyard zoomies to synchronized naps. Lana may be the chatterbox of the household, but Albie became her steady, loyal counterpart… and her favorite cuddle buddy.

A Gentle Giant With a Gentle Heart

One of the first things his new family noticed was how respectfully Albie treated Morgan, the family’s older mastiff/boxer mix. Despite his size and strength, he approached her with softness, instinctively understanding she deserved space and senior-dog courtesy.

And it didn’t stop with the dogs. Even Alice Cooper, the cat, found a friend in him. Where many dogs might chase or bark, Albie simply accepted her - sometimes confused, sometimes curious, but always calm. That peaceful energy made him a bridge between all the pets in the household.

Perhaps the most surprising twist? Ruby Rose fell head over paws in love with him.The smallest dog in the family became the biggest Albie fan. She follows him everywhere and looks at him with total adoration. And Albie, being the soft-hearted giant he is, always lets her.

A Healthier Path Forward

When Albie arrived at SNARLLV, he weighed 140 pounds - well above the healthy range for his frame. Carrying extra weight is especially hard on giant breeds, and his new family wanted to help him feel better, move easier, and enjoy life to the fullest.

He respects Morgan, befriends Alice Cooper the cat, and makes Ruby Rose swoon.He is, simply put, the heart of the pack.
